New Ways to Spend Crystals
Snow crystals needed more meaningful uses. Story-driven investments arrive as chances at the right moment, every finished region now ends with its own story card, and the crystal introduction was rebuilt in the same style.

As Ski Resort Empire gained more opportunities for players to earn crystals, another challenge appeared.
Players needed exciting ways to spend them. The crystal upgrades (snowmaking, faster lifts, VIP guests, construction management) are solid, but they are a menu: you open it, compare numbers and buy. Nothing about them feels like a story.
Investor Stories
The current direction introduces special investor opportunities. Instead of presenting upgrades as simple menus, they are delivered through story-driven cards that fit into the existing progression system. Each investment is a one-time purchase that appears when it makes sense in the story:
- Travel guide (25 crystals): after your first resort rating star, a travel guide wants to feature your resorts. Reputation from rating stars increases by 10 %.
- An investor joins (50 crystals): once the World Cup is running and has opened its race slope, an investor offers to back it. World Cup production +10 %.
- Tourism board (75 crystals): shortly after the running Winterfest starts its second expansion, the regional tourism board wants to support it. Winterfest production +10 %.
Each one is introduced by a card with a painted picture, a kicker "New opportunity", a short story and the reward. The buttons are "Later" and "Buy for n crystals".
Meaningful Choices
The goal is to make premium currency feel valuable. Players should decide where to invest rather than simply spending crystals whenever they are available.
Two rules make that work. First, an investment only appears when it acts immediately: the investor arrives when the World Cup is actually being played, not before it can be started. (An earlier version offered it too early, and players bought a bonus for something they could not use yet.) Second, "Later" is a real option. A postponed investment moves to its own tab in the crystal shop, marked as new, and waits there.
Better Integration
By using the same presentation style as other story moments, these investments become part of the game's world instead of feeling like detached mechanics.
The same story card frame now carries more moments:
- Region completions. Finishing a region's last expansion is always a story moment now, with a painted picture and its own text: Silberkamm becomes a real Alpine resort, Monte Fiocco becomes known, Val Céleste finds its character, and so on. The crystals for completing the phase are handed over on that card, with an option to double them by watching a video.
- The crystal introduction. The first time crystals appear, a card explains what they are for: Snow crystals have potential, with Sepp and an investor bent over the resort plans. It replaced an older dialog from an earlier UI generation and offers two buttons: open the crystal menu, or "Got it".
Story card titles never carry an emoji. The pictures do the work.
Smaller changes
- A faster first region. Silberkamm's early game was tightened again. The first region should feel generous; later regions keep their challenge.
- Separate ad units for the project boost and for doubling bonus events, so their performance can be seen separately.
- Each expansion phase gives a few crystals on completion (2, 3 and 5 for phases 2 to 4), so crystals arrive at a steady, predictable pace instead of only by chance.
